About the role
Assists patients in achieving maximum physical performance while addressing disabilities. Restores patient physical functioning through interpretation of physical therapy evaluations and test results, establishing treatment goals and plans, and providing hands-on exercises and instruction.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to maximize benefits.
- Performs patient assessments and develops a care plan.
- Provides in-service education programs for nursing personnel as needed.
- Identifies and documents patient goals, progress, and reevaluation plans.
- Communicates evaluation results, goals, and treatment plans with patients and families.
- Participates in hospital-wide quality improvement processes.
- Supervises Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) staff according to organization policy and state regulations.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required.
- Licensure from 2016 onward requires completion of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.
- No experience in lieu of a degree is accepted.
- A valid Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License is preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy preferred.
- Licenses and Credentials: Physical Therapist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required; Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
