About the role

As a Physical Therapist, you will restore or enhance physical function, promote behavioral change, adapt environments, and teach new skills to prevent disability in accordance with professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessments; identify functional problems requiring intervention.
  • Develop, document, and carry out individualized plans of care to promote optimum function and safety.
  • Evaluate and treat assigned caseload daily, determining follow-up needs to maximize functional outcomes.
  • Provide and oversee therapy services across acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and aides; coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain licensure through required continuing education; adhere to professional, federal, state, local, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation reflecting care provided and outcomes achieved.
  • Act fiscally responsible in supply use and timely submission of patient charges.
  • Operate therapy equipment (e.g., safe patient handling devices, exercise machines, modalities).
  • Promote respect, dignity, and courteous communication with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement and new programming initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4-year/Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • New graduates considered; Master’s or Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
  • New York State PT license or valid temporary permit.
  • BLS CPR certification within six months of hire.

  • Clinical: evaluation, treatment planning, therapeutic techniques, modalities.
  • Communication: clear oral and written exchanges with patients, families, and teams.
  • Computer: documentation systems, scheduling, and basic office software.
  • Reading/Writing/Comprehension: interpret physician orders, clinical literature, and policies.
  • Creative Thinking: adapt interventions to patient needs and environments.
  • Time Management: manage caseload to meet daily productivity and documentation deadlines.
  • Organization: categorize records, maintain compliance documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: ensure accuracy in assessments, plans, and billing.
  • Interpersonal: collaborate effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • Work Level: Light work—frequently exerting up to 20 lbs; constantly negligible force; primarily seated with standing, walking, and occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, balancing, climbing, crouching.
  • Dexterity: frequent typing, grasping, reaching, and repetitive motion.
  • Sensory: constant seeing/monitor/computer use, visual acuity (color/depth/perception), hearing, and fit testing.

Hazards & Working Conditions

  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.

Pay

Salary range: $41.39 – $62.71 per hour (based on qualifications, experience, education, licensure, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation).
