About the role

The Senior Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning of all patients referred for physical, cognitive, linguistic, and swallowing rehabilitation. This role upholds the mission, vision, and values of Jefferson Health and collaborates with allied healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment plans and care.

Schedule

  • Full day Sunday
  • Full day Monday
  • Half day Tuesday

Responsibilities

  • Provides therapy evaluations, treatment planning, treatment interventions, and discharge planning for a full patient caseload in acute care, skilled facility, acute rehab, and outpatient settings.
  • Assesses, synthesizes, and applies clinical literature to practice.
  • Plans, organizes, and delivers treatment programs to help clients/patients recover and rehabilitate.
  • Utilizes tools and techniques to administer safe therapeutic interventions and training for patients and families.
  • Records and documents health progress, including daily treatments, progress notes, evaluations, and discharge summaries.
  • Suggests and implements program development or performance improvement activities with manager/supervisor approval.
  • Supports supervisor/manager with ongoing clinical and departmental operations.
  • Assists with staff orientation, mentorship, and competency assessment of new/rotating staff.
  • Completes education, teaching, and professional activities commensurate with the position.
  • Participates in student education (Part-Time or Full-Time students).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., push/pull patients on bed or stretcher, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight).
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking (patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
  • May require kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
