About the role

The Physical Therapist provides Physical Therapy services to inpatients and outpatients of the hospital and associated units and sites. The primary role is to reduce pain, improve mobility and safety, and improve overall functional outcomes. They train staff and students, supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy technicians, volunteers and students, and participate in performance improvement programs.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate clients and develop personalized treatment plans
  • Ensure treatment plans are effectively implemented
  • Supervise and support ancillary staff
  • Document progress accurately and communicate concerns to supervisors
  • Provide hands-on therapy and educate patients and their families
  • Create home exercise programs and offer discharge recommendations
  • Collaborate closely with a Certified Hand Therapist (if working in Hand Therapy)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and attend team meetings
  • Help develop treatment protocols
  • Maintain professionalism, follow ethical guidelines, and promote services

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or DPT in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state where work is performed
  • Commitment to seek CHT certification once requirements are met (if working in Hand Therapy)

Skills

  • Knowledge of assessment techniques and anticipated outcomes
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills

Qualifications

Open to new graduates or experienced therapists.
