Physical Therapist Assistant PTA

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.
• Absorb and refer appropriate patients to rehab based on PT’s assessment.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress notes in an accurate and timely manner, and obtain the co-signature of the PT.
• Absorb MD orders for treatments, recertifications, and discharges.
• Assure other documentation requirements are met according to state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as directed by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Schedule patients as required by Supervisor.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseloads during their absence.
• Supervise junior PTA staff members or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with co-workers, facility staff, patients, and patient families.
• Offer in-service education regarding patient care or physical therapy services to rehab staff, facility staff, hospitals, and/or community as needed.
• Comply with all facility safety policies and procedures.
• Comply with patient confidentiality and Federal Resident Rights.
• Report to work on time, adhere to scheduled hours, and maintain a professional image.
• Adhere to productivity requirements.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating and communicating in a professional manner.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the department Supervisor, Lead Therapist, or Regional Manager.
• Adhere to Facility policies re: lunch, sick, and time off notification.
• Adhere to any and all other Facility written and oral policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Physical Therapy that is recognized by the APTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state.
