Duties And Responsibilities

  • Treats residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Contributes to Physical Therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues and providing information and commentary.
  • Makes sure patients make progress during treatment; prepares and keeps records and reports as needed, making sure to follow all procedures and keep information confidential.
  • Documents patient care services by writing in patient and department records.
  • Attends resident care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings.
  • Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members about resident progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participates in facility in-service training programs.
  • Records daily treatments and labor according to corporate procedure.
  • Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use information.
  • Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
  • Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department.
  • May require work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ace in an Associate's degree.
  • Current license in state of practice.
  • Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization.
  • Organized and detailed in work performance.
  • Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
  • Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
  • Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
