About the Role
Reports to the Rehabilitation Manager, Lead Physical Therapist as indicated, and/or staff Physical Therapist.
Responsibilities
- Treats residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Contributes to Physical Therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues and providing information and commentary.
- Monitors patient progress throughout treatment; prepares and maintains records and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to procedural safeguards and confidentiality requirements.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Participates in resident care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings.
- Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans.
- Participates in facility in-service training programs.
- Records daily treatments and labor according to corporate procedure.
- Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Is familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures, and knows how to use information.
- Protects residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
- Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department.
- May require work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Requirements
- Associate's degree.
- Current license in state of practice.
- Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization.
- Organized and detailed in work performance.
- Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
- Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
- Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
