As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work as part of a team that co-treats and prioritizes patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Located in Fallon, Nev., Banner Churchill Community Hospital is a 25-bed licensed hospital offering a comprehensive array of medical services in rural northern Nevada. We provide emergency care and operate an ambulance service covering over 5,900 square miles, making us one of only two hospital-operated paramedic/EMT/EMS providers in the region. Fallon offers rustic rural charm with easy access to Reno and Lake Tahoe, along with abundant outdoor recreation such as boating, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, horseback riding, and off-roading.

About the role

This position administers physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, in accordance with physician referral, state and local standards, and departmental policies. You will demonstrate clinical competence and knowledge to provide treatment appropriate to the age of patients served.

Responsibilities

• Administer physical therapy treatment according to the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist.
• Implement individualized treatment plans considering physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age-specific needs.
• Provide skilled treatment safely and monitor ongoing effectiveness, collaborating with the Physical Therapist to modify the plan as needed.
• Identify and prioritize key limiting factors; participate in discharge planning.
• Involve patient and family/caregiver in treatment and decision-making; provide ongoing education to all stakeholders.
• Communicate significant changes in patient function, behavior, or treatment tolerance to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Recommend additions or modifications to referring orders and update treatment goals to ensure they are functional, measurable, and patient-centered.
• Refer patients to the Physical Therapist when treatment requires their skills.
• Document treatment and patient progress according to department and regulatory standards, ensuring timely and comprehensive records.
• Communicate treatment results and patient progress to physicians, nurses, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Exhibit adaptability in assignments related to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts; assist in other patient care areas as needed.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Therapy Technicians and PTA students in compliance with department policies and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in training and orientation of new personnel and ensure competency before delegation.
• Attend department staff meetings and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Meet productivity standards set by the department.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Physical Therapy Assistant program accredited by APTA or equivalent.
• Current Physical Therapy Assistant license from the state of practice (if required).
• BLS certification.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for Banner Home Care AZ employees (must maintain for duration of employment).
