Responsibilities
- Implements physical therapy services under the direction of the Physical Therapist.
- Provides optimal patient care for adult and geriatric patients, following hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and JCAHO standards and requirements.
- Delivers direct patient care, progresses established treatment plans, and communicates patient progress in the medical record and to the Physical Therapist.
- Calls attention to patient responses to treatment and reports these observations to the Physical Therapist.
- Maintains accurate documentation for patient and departmental records in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.
- Supervises the performance of staff under his/her supervision and assists in problem-solving with the staff under his/her supervision.
- Interacts with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care, treatment plan revisions, and interpretations.
- Participates in the multidisciplinary care of patients by communicating with the patient, their family, and other healthcare team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree from an American Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
- Current Licenses to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant from the State of Alabama.
- Three months of on-the-job training will be provided for proficiency in job duties.
- CPR certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Effective communication skills and good command of the English language.
- The ability to adapt to changes in routine.
- The ability to efficiently use computer software applications or systems used in the Division, such as Human Resources and payroll (Workflow, ADP, Kronos), online policies, procedures and forms (Replica and NHS Forms), order entry, admissions (CPSI), reporting (L-drive Excel files), communication (e-mail).
- To complete online training (Noland Online!)
- The ability to organize and prioritize work.
- The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, and the general public.
- The ability to minimize waste of supplies and misuse of equipment.
- The ability to make independent decisions.
- The ability to research using resource manuals.
