Physical Therapist Assistant

Role Overview

Provides physical therapy interventions to patients under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Assists in monitoring patient progress, documents care, and modifies treatments within the scope of practice. Works in patients' homes or other facilities, managing caseloads and supporting patient activities such as positioning, transfers, and use of medical equipment. Collaborates with team members, participates in meetings, and contributes to special projects.

Responsibilities

• Follow established plan of care and patient education.
• Assist in monitoring patient progress and communicate with the supervising PT.
• Manage assigned caseload; provide care as directed.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and reviews.
• Travel to patient locations, ensuring safety and infection control.
• Support patients with therapeutic activities, transfers, and use of medical devices.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to policies and standards.
• Use technology and supplies efficiently while ensuring infection control.

Qualifications

• New York State Certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Associate's Degree from an approved program.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license may be required.
• Bilingual skills and basic PC knowledge may be preferred.
