Physical Therapist Assistant
About the role
Regency Gresham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center offers skilled nursing and long-term care services while focusing on the unique qualities of each individual in a compassionate and caring environment. We are seeking a Staff Physical Therapist Assistant to assume clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This professional position involves direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, along with administrative duties as assigned.
Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, you will follow all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in-home care, adhere to the treatment plan defined by the Physical Therapist, perform only procedures you are qualified and trained for, and communicate any recommended changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Responsibilities
- Following the plan of care, instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait training, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
- Observe, record, and report to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
- Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members in therapy techniques to assist the patient.
- Visit patients according to the Plan of Treatment and complete a daily note for each visit.
- Participate in developing the Plan of Treatment as needed with communication to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice in the provision of services to all patients.
- Report to the Physical Therapist information relating to the patient’s progress, complications, and/or response to treatment.
- Assist the Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe and effective evaluation and treatment of patients.

Requirements
- Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the assigned state.
- Ability to take direction from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety.
- Ability to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and direction.
