Physical Therapist Assistant

About the role

The Physical Therapist Assistant at St. Joseph Health Burleson Hospital will help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life. They will perform initial evaluations, develop and update individualized plans of care, and provide a variety of direct treatments. Responsibilities include administering therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities, instructing and motivating patients, observing patients during treatments, assessing and reporting patient progress, fitting patients for and adjusting orthopedic devices, and communicating updates to physicians.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care
• Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities
• Observes patients during treatments, assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist; may communicate updates to physicians
• Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs
• May perform clerical duties
• Promotes and supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests, and hospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments, and disciplines to assure patients and customers' needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education

Qualifications

Associates Other Physical Therapist Assistants and Graduates eligible for licensure will be considered, upon hire.

Pay

The posted compensation range of $24.88 - $37.00 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
