Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations of residents' physical capabilities, including strength, mobility, and endurance.
- Identify barriers to independence and functional movement.
- Develop individualized treatment plans to improve residents' mobility, strength, and functional independence.
- Address challenges related to mobility, balance, and pain management.
- Assist in recovery from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses through targeted physical therapy exercises and techniques.
- Help residents improve their ability to perform activities of daily living, such as walking, dressing, and transferring.
- Implement strengthening, flexibility, and coordination exercises to enhance motor function and prevent further injury.
- Educate residents and staff on fall prevention techniques and mobility strategies.
- Recommend and train in the use of assistive devices like walkers, wheelchairs, or braces.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic care.
- Participate in care planning meetings to set and review therapeutic goals.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, treatments, and progress to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
- License as required by the State of Wisconsin to practice as a Physical Therapist.
