About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a full time Physical Therapist 2 to work in Miami, FL.
Core Job Functions
- Performs evaluations of new patients to include the establishment of goals and appropriate treatment plans.
- Progresses patients through different levels of treatment within the patient’s maximum capabilities.
- Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions.
- Provides relevant education to patients and families regarding medical conditions.
- Maintains effective communication with all members of the rehabilitation team.
- Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain additional information and suggests revisions in treatment.
- Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
- Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel.
- Supervises and instructs physical therapy students according to professional guidelines.
- Provides or participates in educational programs for staff, patients, and the community at large.
Qualifications
- CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Doctoral degree in relevant field
- Certification and Licensing: Active FL Physical Therapist license
- Experience: Minimum 5 Years Experience
- Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and according to HIPPA requirements. Commitment to the University’s core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

- Department Specific Qualifications:
- Education: Doctoral degree in physical therapy
- Certification and Licensing: FL Licensure in physical therapy
- Experience: Minimum 2 years with board certification, 4 years without board certification
- If 2 years - Board Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) or specialty certification through an approved program
- Certification as a Clinical Instructor (CI)
- Approved minimum 50 hour - curriculum of courses to advance specified clinical expertise
- Productivity attainment
- Fulfillment of 3 professional development / engagement activities from the Clinical ladder Checklist
- For Acute care “Specialist” criteria: must also include 4 of the 6 acute care rotations with one of them being critical care (CVICU, SICU, or MICU)
- DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Walker, crutches, cane, wheelchair, lift equipment, hospital beds, commodes, goniometer, traction units, ultrasound machine, electrical stimulation machines, iontophoresis, vasopneumatic pump, cuff weights, pulley weights, isokinetic exercise equipment, and general office equipment (telephone, computer, facsimile machine, and copier).
- Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need.
- Participates in program development in specialty area to equip the team in meeting departmental and organizational service needs.
- Attends and participates in Grand Rounds to represent the Department of Physical Therapy and acquire information from our larger medical community to disseminate relevant information for staff development and service delivery.
- Serves as an advanced clinician to support the department’s educational mission and the health systems development initiatives.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Satellite / Facility Clinical Coordinator, or Associate Chair for Clinical Service.
