Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is hiring a CNA to be part of our fast-paced and dedicated, innovative team with a highly experienced, new Director of Rehab. Specializing in neuro and ortho, our patients are referred by outside hospitals in surrounding areas to our in-patient setting. We offer occupational, physical, speech, and respiratory therapy, in addition to other services like IV therapy, wound care, and rehabilitation nursing. Our goal is to improve the quality of life by treating patients who are recovering from injury, illness, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, stroke, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is located within TrustPoint Hospital, offering the only acute, hospital-based inpatient physical rehabilitation in Rutherford County.

About the role

Provide medical or therapeutic care under the direction of nursing or clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment under the direction of a charge nurse or supervisor.
  • Address patient safety through complete patient observation rounds (e.g., every 15 minutes, within reach of patient, and/or 1:1 patient care).
  • Maintain clean and uncluttered patient rooms.
  • Assist with transferring, lifting, raising, or turning patients.
  • Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Identify yourself to patients and visitors promptly and respond to patient requests quickly.
  • Engage with patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
  • Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner, apply de-escalation techniques, and assist with seclusion and restraints when necessary.
  • Monitor and reinforce behavioral improvements and report changes or responses to treatment by communicating with the team (significant changes reported to nurse immediately).
  • Reinforce skills patients learn from nurses, physicians, and therapists to promote improved physical and mental wellness.
  • Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy while performing CNA duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, moving patients, or changing linens.
  • Provide or coordinate patient transfers or transportation as required.
  • Maintain adherence to work schedule and overall attendance.
  • Follow established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care.
  • Clean assigned units and equipment, including beds, IV poles, and wheelchairs.
  • Document timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical information in patient medical records.
  • Collaborate with staff to treat and rehabilitate the facility’s population.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times.
  • Acknowledge and work to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met.
  • Prioritize patient safety and communicate clearly and effectively with patients, family members, guests, and healthcare team members.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification as a nursing assistant per state requirements required.
  • Previous experience in a behavioral health setting and knowledge of the facility’s population preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or license, per state requirements.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Pay

Shift differentials up to $4.50/hr.

Schedule

7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
