Physical Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as calculations.
• Coincides and prepares calculations, specifications, reports, design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
• Coordinates and prepares calculations, specifications, reports, design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
• Interfaces with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects as required.
• Responsible for adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects.
• Performs other duties assigned by Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
• Establish, promote, and assure quality on all project work.
• Attends group meetings with staff as required.
• Incorporate safe work practices into all activities.
• Works with Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager and team to assist with project execution, work processes, and procedures to help continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Uses strong verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients.
• Uses interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and clients.
• Possesses knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
• Estimates and assists in the preparation of bid packages.
• Attends scoping meetings as requested for projects.
• Mentors other designers/engineers in the group to increase knowledge of Physical substation design.
• Checks/reviews other personnel work for accuracy and adherence to client/national standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related, from an ABET accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum of 4-5 years of progressively responsible experience in 69kV to 500kV substation Physical design is required.
• PE is required.
