About the role

The K-8 Physical Education teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing high quality instruction to all students in their specific content area. He or she will use a variety of methodologies and curriculum resources to ensure that all students meet grade level content expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning, respectful behavior, and a sense of community among students.
  • Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
  • Achieve student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Communicate progress to parents/guardians through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events.
  • Stay informed about current educational trends, participate in professional development opportunities, and continuously seek ways to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Adhere to the District’s and School’s policies, expectations, and protocols as outlined in the District’s Policies and Procedures Manual and School’s Procedures Manual.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with MA, MC, MX, and or MB endorsement.
  • Previous experience teaching elementary school students strongly preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong understanding of child development, pedagogy, and effective instructional strategies.
  • Passion for integrating arts into the curriculum and promoting creativity in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the Google Suite.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic educational environment and contribute to a positive school culture.
