About the role

As a Photojournalist at Spectrum News NECN, you’ll work with a team of talented journalists to shoot and edit material for newscasts. You’ll elevate stories by incorporating footage with fresh angles, lighting, and points of view. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms.

Spectrum News NECN covers MA, NH, ME, VT, RI, and CT. We use innovative journalistic approaches, backed by comprehensive research, to engage and inform viewers on the most essential news, issues, and events taking place in their communities. Beyond TV news distribution, our newsrooms publish via the Spectrum News app and connected television. We’re committed to providing viewers with 24-hour news—no matter how, when, and where they want it.

Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit material for newscasts
• Incorporate footage with fresh angles, lighting, and points of view
• Create compelling, timely, and accurate content for traditional and digital platforms
• Travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and interact with the community
• Operate ENG/SNG/Satellite vehicles and bonded cellular streaming equipment
• Work different shifts, be flexible with schedule changes, and cover stand-by responsibilities when assigned

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shooting and editing television news footage
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or comparable television work experience
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds
• Ability to distinguish colors and discern sounds
• Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence
• Must be open to travel and willing to interact with the community

Skills

• Operation of ENG/SNG/Satellite vehicles and bonded cellular streaming
• Knowledge of how to clearly communicate solutions
• Ability to relate to populations and ages
• Positive attitude and eagerness to solve problems

Preferred Qualifications

• DSNG experience

Working Conditions

• Works inside in a climate-controlled environment and outside throughout the year, potentially subjected to various weather conditions including extreme heat or cold
• Drives company vehicle to and from different locations in a safe manner by obeying all traffic laws
