Photographer/Videographer - level 2/3
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Elkton, Maryland is seeking a Photo & Video Technician to join a highly active testing team supporting static test functions. This role involves collaboration, innovative thinking, and the use of hardware and software tools to demonstrate the capabilities of Northrop Grumman’s propulsion and ordnance systems.
The Elkton facility, operational since 1948, designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion systems for government and commercial customers. Located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, Elkton offers a mix of small-town charm, outdoor recreation, and proximity to Philadelphia and Baltimore.
About the Role
The Photo/Video Technician will play a key role in live-event video production, troubleshooting technical issues, and capturing high-quality high-speed and infrared video. The position demands creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects. The role is primarily based at the Elkton, MD campus.
Responsibilities
- Develop testing video and photo standards, and capture professional-quality footage to demonstrate product capabilities.
- Deliver HD test video edits, live-streamed video, high-speed video, and IR video.
- Operate DSLR and mirrorless cameras, as well as flash and lighting equipment for photography.
- Set up and maintain AV recording equipment, troubleshooting issues related to cabling or data transmission.
- Collaborate with engineering and marketing teams to create compelling visual data for diverse audiences.
- Perform AV equipment maintenance and ensure successful recording setups.
Requirements
- Familiarity with live-event video production and video capture.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues affecting video quality.
- Experience working on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Strong communication, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and both Mac and PC operating systems.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
Level 2
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of related experience.
Level 3
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Experience as a drone operator.
- Proficiency with Phantom high-speed video equipment and software (Phantom Camera Control).
- Experience with FLIR IR video and software (FLIR Tools+).
- Familiarity with BlackMagic video mixing and recording hardware.
- Experience working in a classified environment.
Pay
- Level 2 Salary Range: $53,500 – $89,100 per year.
- Level 3 Salary Range: $63,500 – $105,900 per year.
Base salary offers consider factors such as scope of responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, and participation in annual bonus programs tied to individual and company performance. Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
