Photographer/Video Editor
About the role
NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) in East Syracuse, New York, is seeking a Photographer/Video Editor to join our News team. This role operates video and editing equipment to produce images or scenes for newscasts and other programming.
Responsibilities
- Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
- Sets up and operates video equipment
- Edits video clips for television broadcasts, streaming and digital content
- Operates live Backpack TVU equipment
- Partners with reporters to develop creative, visually appealing & impactful stories
- Maintains video equipment
- Works efficiently and effectively under extremely tight deadlines on a daily basis
- Meets deadlines, prioritizes assignments and handles multiple tasks simultaneously
Requirements & Skills
- College degree or equivalent related experience is required
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Minimum two years’ experience operating video editing equipment
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Proficiency with video editing equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premier helpful
- Flexibility to work any shift, including overnights and weekends
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
- Repetitive movements are required
- Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions
