Photographer (Part Time)

About the role

KETV, the ABC affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking a Part-Time Local News Photographer to capture and convey the essence of daily events for our viewers. You will spend several hours each day in the field shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots, as well as editing content for newscasts. This role requires up-to-date knowledge of modern media, an excellent eye for video, and the ability to work collaboratively while maintaining the highest journalistic standards and professionalism.

You will report to the News Director.

Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online platforms.
• Collaborate with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to cover daily stories.
• Operate assigned professional camera equipment and edit in Adobe Premiere.
• Use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station.
• Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms.
• Work with reporters and producers to ensure accurate and compelling content.
• Support producers in achieving their creative vision with vivid video and natural sound.
• Coordinate incoming video elements from field crews.
• Use catalog systems to save, store, record, and locate necessary video.
• Produce and publish content to online platforms.
• Maintain and organize gear and equipment.

Requirements

• Training in video photojournalism.
• Professional or college experience in a newsroom.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Experience with ENG trucks and working in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency with digital editing tools, including Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
• Strong computer and software experience.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time-sensitive newscast production.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.

Related military experience will be considered.
