Location: Albuquerque, NM 87107 | Full-time position

About the role

KOAT, the Hearst affiliate in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Local News Photographer to capture and convey the essence of daily events for our viewers. This role involves extensive fieldwork, including shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots, as well as editing content for newscasts. You will collaborate closely with reporters, producers, and the assignment desk to deliver high-quality, engaging content.

Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online platforms.
• Collaborate with the Assignment Desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
• Operate professional camera equipment and edit using Adobe Premiere.
• Utilize ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station.
• Gather video and still images for digital platforms.
• Work with reporters and producers to ensure accurate, high-quality content.
• Support producers in achieving their creative vision with vivid video and natural sound.
• Coordinate incoming video elements from field crews.
• Manage catalog systems to store, record, and retrieve video assets.
• Produce and publish content for online platforms.
• Maintain and organize gear and equipment.

Requirements

• Training or experience in video photojournalism (professional or college-level).
• Newsroom experience preferred.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Experience with ENG trucks and working in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency in digital editing tools, including Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Ability to manage the stresses of time-sensitive newscast production.
