Responsibilities
- Sending and editing of VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for broadcast air and digital via Sony XD Can, Canon Lenses, GoPro, iPhone, and Adobe Premiere
- Working with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to cover daily stories
- Gathering video and still pictures for digital platforms
- Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station
- Working with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered
- Working with producers to ensure their creative vision is accomplished with vivid video and natural sound
- Communicating and coordinating incoming video elements from crews in the field to the Assignment Desk and Editors
- Producing and publishing content to our online platforms
- Organizing and prioritizing tasks
- Exhibiting unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
- Being flexible with scheduling on weekends and holidays
Requirements
- Training in the art of video photojournalism
- Professional or college experience in a newsroom
- Carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
- Experience with ENG trucks
- Drone Certification, Sat Truck and Chopper experience preferred
- Can work in all weather conditions
- Operate large vehicles, have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Must operate digital editing tools
- Have and exhibit computer and software experience; knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms
- Have and exhibit organizational and prioritization skills
- Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
- Deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
About the role
Local News Photographer WESH 2 News, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Orlando, is looking for a self-motivated news photojournalist who is ready to hustle and win the day. We are seeking a highly skilled individual eager to capture the essence of what’s happening in Central Florida, a place packed with busy theme parks, launches along the Space Coast, and miles of beaches. This photojournalist must be able to tell compelling stories in his or her community in a deadline-driven environment through high-quality video and audio elements. They must be tech savvy and proficient in the most modern aspects of our visual medium as they shoot, edit, and execute live shots for multiple stories.
Qualifications
- An excellent eye for video and the highest journalistic standards are a must
- Training in the art of video photojournalism
- Professional or college experience in a newsroom
