About the role

The Photogrammetrist Specialist II position within the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) Photogrammetry and Survey Section is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geographic information through control surveys, large format aerial photographs, and LiDAR using fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. Responsibilities include planning and performing photogrammetric processes to develop engineering design level 3D models such as DEMs, DSMs, and DTMs from aerial survey data.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and analyzing geographic information through various survey methods
  • Developing 3D models from aerial survey data
  • Planning and performing photogrammetric processes
  • Interpreting data from images and images collected via aerial surveys
  • Managing projects for mapping and mensuration requirements
  • Supervising survey activities for control and specifying photography or other imagery requirements
  • Assisting in the development of engineering design level 3D models

Requirements

  • Minimum of six years of experience in photogrammetry, with at least three years in a position of professional responsibility
  • Professional certification as a Certified Photogrammetrist by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS)
  • Knowledge of photogrammetric technology and its applications in mapping and mensuration
  • Ability to manage and supervise survey activities for control and specify photography or other imagery requirements
  • Experience in developing 3D models from aerial survey data
  • Experience in interpreting data from images and aerial surveys

Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in photogrammetry, surveying, geomatics, or a related field
  • Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience

Pay

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $102,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule
