Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the site’s reclamation permits including the preparation of regulatory reports, reclamation cost model updates, as well as assisting with reclamation permit modifications.
- Reviews and updates site Trust Funds.
- Ensures compliance with regards to the site’s Plan of Operations and corresponding U.S. Bureau of Land Management Record of Decisions.
- Manages the site’s cultural resource programs including the oversight of cultural resource surveys and the development and execution of cultural mitigation plans, as needed.
- Participates in regulatory inspections.
- Assists with the development of Plan of Operations amendments and the completion of associated NEPA permitting activities.
- Maintains accurate records of agency correspondence and environmental monitoring data.
- Acts as a liaison between the mine and environmental regulatory agencies.
- Develops, maintains, and updates environmental management plans, as necessary.
- Plans and tracks reclamation activities in coordination with the site’s mine engineering personnel.
- Manages contractors to ensure the safe delivery of project objectives.
- Ensures conformance with internal mine closure standards.
- Assists with providing guidance and training to employees and contractors regarding environmental obligations.
- Aligns work practices with Environmental ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety 45001 standards.
- Responsible for periodic, after-hours on-call response to environmental incidents, as needed.
- Manages budgets, including the development, forecasting, and tracking of reclamation/closure costs.
- Captures and coordinates with supply chain personnel to procure contractor and consultant services, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, hydrology, hydrogeology, mine engineering, ecology or related field - required
- Five (5) years direct experience managing environmental compliance programs and projects, with a minimum of three (3) years in an industrial setting - required
- Strong computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel - required
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills - required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously - required
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others - required
- Ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement - required
- General understanding of mining operations - preferred
- Familiarity with environmental compliance systems and ISO 14001 - preferred
- Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines – required
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions - required
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. - required
