About the role
The Senior Engineer position at the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) involves leading and managing complex engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and supporting regional transportation planning and infrastructure development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage regional transportation planning studies and infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical expertise in engineering principles, standards, and practices.
- Develop, review, and approve engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with local governments, state agencies, and stakeholders on project development and implementation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
- Prepare and present technical reports, recommendations, and presentations to committees and governing boards.
- Oversee consultant contracts and manage project budgets and schedules.
- Support the development and implementation of regional transportation policies and programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Arizona or ability to obtain registration within six months of hire.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, transportation planning, or a related field.
- Experience with regional transportation planning, project management, and infrastructure development.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to transportation and public works.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
