About the role

Simplifying Laboratories is seeking a Full-Time experienced Phlebotomist to join our team at one of our Physician Office Clinics (POC). This role involves drawing blood and other tissue or fluid samples from patients, contributing to direct patient care and potentially saving lives in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service – interacting with patients and clients, representing the company in an independent clinic setting.
  • Independent / remote work. Must be comfortable communicating with the main laboratory by phone and email.
  • Arrange daily activities based on urgency of requests for fluid samples.
  • Identify patients and their personal information using IDs, documents, or other means.
  • Determine the appropriate venipuncture method based on patient age, health, and other factors.
  • Reassure patients and help them relax during the process.
  • Find suitable veins for puncture and draw blood using sterile equipment.
  • Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples and label them correctly.
  • Send or deliver samples for testing and answer patient questions.
  • Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Use computers to enter information and maintain compliance with legal requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with various types of patients, including children, elderly, and pregnant women.
  • Show patience and presence of mind during the process.

Requirements

  • Diploma in phlebotomy or equivalent certification.
  • Knowledge of puncture techniques.

Skills

  • Phlebotomy Certification or Medical Assistant Certification with Phlebotomy training.
  • Reliable car with insurance for occasional deliveries or pick-ups.
  • Good attitude and flexible availability.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician.
  • Effective puncture techniques.
  • Understanding of proper patient identification methods.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples, and using relevant medical equipment and materials.
  • Able to use computers to enter information.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to connect with various types of patients and make them feel comfortable.
