Phlebotomy Technician, Per Diem

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely collection, labeling, processing, and delivery of patient specimens to the laboratory, as defined by Quality Improvement Indicators.
• Processing functions including timely retrieval of specimens from transport systems, verification of sample receipt in LIS, centrifugation, and other pre-analytic steps, including use of an automated track system.
• Order entry of laboratory tests into LIS.
• Processing of samples to a referral laboratory.

Requirements

• Phlebotomy Technician I or II Licensure from California Department of Health Services (CA DHS) (after 1/1/07).
• LA City Fire Card within 6 months of employment (PHGSH only).

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with the use of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).

Qualifications

• Preferred: 1-year experience as a Phlebotomist in a hospital laboratory environment.

Pay

$31.82 per hour.
