Phlebotomy Technician
About the role
The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for accurately registering outpatients, obtaining blood samples, and performing EKG. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and level of difficulty of the patient, including Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics. The Technician performs routine and assigned functions under the direction of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and/or designee, and maintains proficiency in specimen procurement across all patient age groups. Additional responsibilities include maintaining communication with other departments, keeping the work area organized, assisting the Supervisor in training, and assuming a leadership role or using problem-solving methods in the absence of the supervisor or as weekend Lead Phlebotomist.
Requirements
- Medical Terminology
- ICD 10 coding and CRT data experience strongly preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of third party payer, federal and state regulations desired
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player
- Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred
Pay
Salary Range: 18.47 – 28.61 USD per hour. Competitive base rates are determined by job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. Some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials. The listed range reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
