Responsibilities
- Greet patients and collect blood samples with care and confidence
- Label and handle specimens to ensure top-notch accuracy
- Keep workspaces clean and organized
- Deliver a positive experience—even when patients are nervous
- Follow safety and infection control procedures like a pro
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of inpatient phlebotomy experience, required
- Phlebotomy certification (or ability to earn it within 6 months of hire)
- Calm presence, good communication, and a love for helping people
- Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks
- Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
- Ability to follow written protocols and work independently
- Ability to communicate clearly
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program, preferred
- Phlebotomy Certification - ASCP, NHA, ASPT, AMT or a national accrediting agency approved by Laboratory Senior Leadership (must be obtained within 12 months of hire)
