About the role
Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab collection, or other specimen collection. Ensures quality collection of specimens including appropriate sample container, sample volume, collection priority, and sample identification. Resolves unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, or referring to lab leadership when appropriate. Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification and type, and processes hospital-registered and outreach patients. Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to appropriate testing areas, including loading samples onto various analyzers.
Requirements
- High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
- Technical/Vocational School (Preferred) – Field of study: Completion of a phlebotomy program
- Phlebotomy work experience
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) (Preferred)
