Phlebotomy Instructor - Part-Time

About the Role

This part-time Phlebotomy Instructor position reports to the Program Coordinator of Allied Health. The instructor will teach students proper phlebotomy and EKG techniques, supervise hands-on lab skills, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and prepare students for industry-based certification exams.

Responsibilities

• Teach students proper techniques for phlebotomy.
• Instruct students on EKG procedures.
• Demonstrate and supervise hands-on skills in a safe lab environment.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and safety regulations during all lab activities.
• Assess student performance through written exams, skills check-off, and practical demonstrations.
• Prepare students for industry-based certification exams.
• Foster professional behavior, communication skills, and patient care etiquette.
• Provide support and remediation to help students meet competency requirements.
• Collaborate with school staff and administration to enhance program quality.
• Participate in training sessions and complete required professional development activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years’ practical field experience as a phlebotomist or Licensed Nurse.
• Ability to teach students theory and hands-on skills.
• Certification or Licensure as a Phlebotomy Technician or Nurse.
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying healthcare safety standards and regulations.
• Computer skills, including proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching phlebotomy skills, including blood collection and EKG procedures.

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Work Environment

• Moderate noise level in the work environment.
• Some travel may be required.
