Phlebotomist/Processor

About the role

Interpath Laboratory is looking for a Phlebotomist/Processor to join our Swing Shift team! Newly certified phlebotomists are encouraged to apply, although previous professional phlebotomy experience is preferred. In this role, you'll perform patient blood draws and assist with specimen pickups, including supporting our partnership with Treasure Valley Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening, with a focus on pediatric patients.
• Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
• Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance activities.
• Serving as a point of contact for patients and families, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
• Supporting clinic operations and assisting with coverage as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day workflow.
• Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous professional phlebotomy experience preferred; newly certified phlebotomists are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with pediatric patients and their families.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
• Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
• High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
• Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Pay

Starting at $18 per hour, with flexibility based on experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Friday, 1:30pm - 10:30pm.
