Phlebotomist (PD)

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients
• Disposes of all contaminated needles immediately after phlebotomy procedures
• Completes all timed draws, STAT, and ASAP orders before the end of the shift
• Follows Hospital and Lab policies/procedures regarding patient care, with special emphasis on isolation procedures
• Affords assistance in the orientation of new personnel as needed

Requirements

• Maintains a current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certificate
• Meets the qualifications of unlicensed personnel to perform venipuncture, skin puncture, and arterial puncture
• One year of experience in an Acute Care hospital is preferred
