About the role

Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health published protocols. Receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and timely, labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens. Distributes specimens to testing sections in accordance with collection priority, i.e., STAT over Routine. Faxes and distributes results as appropriate. Responsible for maintaining knowledge and deployment of policies and procedures used within the department as well as throughout the hospital to address patient questions and concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy following National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health protocols
  • Accurately and timely receive, label, transport, centrifuge, and aliquot specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Distribute specimens to testing sections based on priority (STAT over Routine)
  • Fax and distribute results as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental and hospital-wide policies and procedures to address patient questions and concerns

Requirements

  • High School diploma, Certificate, GED, or equivalent training
  • Less than 1 year of experience

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Phlebotomy or Registered Medical Assistant certificate
  • Preferred: Experience in a hospital setting, including pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients
  • Computer skills, specimen processing, and excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Pay

Estimated pay range for this position is $17.79 - $23.13 per hour, depending on experience.
