Phlebotomist I- Paterson
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
- Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts with 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport, storing samples at required temperatures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
Essential Skills
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of experience.
- 1+ years of pediatric experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with troubleshooting and workflow recommendations.
- Ability to update patient information.
Work Environment
The position is located at 680 Broadway, Unit B3, Paterson, NJ. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm, and every other Saturday, 7 am to 12 pm. The role does not require floating between different locations. The work setting is fast-paced, requiring a high level of attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
