Phlebotomist I
Overview
The Phlebotomist I obtains blood and other specimens according to established policies and procedures from any location where patients may be present for laboratory testing. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens and transports same to laboratory for analysis. This position works independently and as a part of a team, performs clerical and/or computer duties associated with the laboratory, and provides timely specimen collection and routing of laboratory specimens. Maintains professional relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School/GED
- Other Skills/Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented.
- Licenses/Certifications: CPR Certification through the American Heart Association, PBT certification (preferred)
- Experience: 6 months in a team-oriented environment or customer service role, completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months’ full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent, experience working with an electronic medical record system, such as Epic

Pay
Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity. This is an Hourly position. $1.75/hour shift for 2nd shift differential.
