About the role

The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the company to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. This role demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.

Floaters travel between multiple sites (up to 95% travel) and must be punctual at whichever site they are covering. Mileage between sites can be submitted for reimbursement. A clean driving record and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric collections, while following established practices and procedures.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic information and ensure tubes are labeled correctly in the patient’s presence.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment, adhering to all policies and procedures, including dress code and health/safety guidelines.
  • Handle forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with confidence and accuracy.
  • Perform daily activities under the direction of the area supervisor, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Exercise good judgment and make decisions based on established procedures in a high-volume setting.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday with rotational Saturdays.
  • Shifts typically 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM (may vary by location).
  • Saturday shifts: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
  • Flexible hours required to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
