About the role

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The role involves direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.

Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information, including patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Travel and work flexible hours to cover multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers and In-Office Phlebotomy locations, with minimal notice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.
  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience REQUIRED, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Committed to all Policies & Procedures, including Company dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
  • Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Must demonstrate superior customer focus, ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, and embrace change.
  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment STRONGLY preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Schedule

  • Monday and Friday: Hours vary depending on territory coverage needs (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM, and 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
  • Wednesday: Hours vary depending on territory coverage needs (7:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM, and 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
  • Saturday: Hours vary depending on territory coverage needs (6:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
  • Sunday: Hours vary depending on territory coverage needs (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
  • Holiday hours: Will vary depending on the day of the week and business needs.
