About the role

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The PSR II has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.

Responsibilities

  • Draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing.
  • Follows established practices and procedures.
  • Verifies patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture.
  • Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviors and focuses on process excellence.
  • Ensures confidentiality and accuracy to patient information.
  • Performs with confidence, both in forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.
  • Works under the direction of the area supervisor to perform daily activities accurately and on time.
  • Maintains a safe and professional environment.
  • Provides quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Has excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Is flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.

  • Makes decisions based on established procedures and exercises good judgment.
  • Has reliable transportation, valid driver license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.

  • Strong customer service background in a retail or service environment is preferred.
  • Has keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Floaters travel between multiple sites and are expected to be on time at whatever site they are covering for that day. They must also have a clean driving record.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • 1-3 years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections.
  • 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills to include pediatric and geriatric.
