Phlebotomist (Entry Level)

Under general supervision, responsible for providing phlebotomy services for the phlebotomy team.

Responsibilities

• Properly identifies patient according to policy, draws blood samples, labels specimens, and sends to laboratory for analysis.
• Maintains records of tests performed and samples taken.
• Generates patient collection lists and labels, ensures the correct tests are collected by using inquiry mode, verifies collection of all specimens, and labels STATS with stickers.
• Checks collection batches and overdue lists frequently and ensures that all orders are promptly collected.
• Performs special tests to include clotting time, bleeding time, and glucose tolerance tests as needed and reports results.
• Inventories supplies, equipment, and requisitions as needed.
• Stocks workstation with necessary supplies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One (1) year experience drawing blood specimens; or, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
