Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy: Uses proper patient identification and specimen labeling procedures according to Laboratory policy.
- Accessioning and receiving: Accurately and timely receives specimens into the laboratory.
- Customer Service: Uses AIDET principles when performing phlebotomy and Demonstrates concerns for patient comfort and privacy.
- People: Interacts professionally with all members of the hospital staff.
- Problem solving: Reviews patient vouchers and registrations for accuracy and corrects them as indicated.
- Investigates and documents problems: Accurately orders tests in the hospital and laboratory computer systems and documents problems with unacceptable specimens.
- Regulation Compliance: Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety.
- Other duties: Responsible for cleanliness of courier vehicle if applicable.
Qualifications
- Education: High school graduate or GED.
- Experience: Prior experience in phlebotomy.
- Licenses: Certified or certified eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred.
- Requirements: Current driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
