PHLEBOTOMIST

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy: Uses proper patient identification and specimen labeling procedures according to Laboratory policy.
• Accessioning and receiving: Accurately and timely receives specimens into the laboratory.
• Customer Service: Uses AIDET principles when performing phlebotomy and Demonstrates concerns for patient comfort and privacy.
• People: Interacts professionally with all members of the hospital staff.
• Problem solving: Reviews patient vouchers and registrations for accuracy and corrects them as indicated.
• Investigates and documents problems: Accurately orders tests in the hospital and laboratory computer systems and documents problems with unacceptable specimens.
• Regulation Compliance: Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety.
• Other duties: Responsible for cleanliness of courier vehicle if applicable.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED.
• Experience: Prior experience in phlebotomy.
• Licenses: Certified or certified eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred.
• Requirements: Current driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
