Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy:
  • Uses proper patient identification and specimen labeling procedures according to Laboratory policy
• Accessioning and receiving:
  • Accurately and timely receives specimens into the laboratory
• Customer Service:
  • Uses AIDET principles when performing phlebotomy and Demonstrates concerns for patient comfort and privacy
• People:
  • Interacts professionally with all members of the hospital staff
• Problem solving:
  • Reviews patient vouchers and registrations for accuracy and corrects them as indicated
• Investigates and documents problems:
  • Accurately orders tests in the hospital and laboratory computer systems
• Regulation Compliance:
  • Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety
• Other duties:
  • Responsible for cleanliness of courier vehicle if applicable

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED
• Experience: Prior experience in phlebotomy
• Licensure: Certified or certified eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred
• License: Current driver's license and an acceptable driving record
