Job Description
The Phlebotomist ensures appropriate specimens are collected from patients in various settings, communicates effectively with patients, and performs clerical duties. Duties include accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, preservation, transportation, and pre-test processing. The position requires adherence to Singing River Health System procedures and policies.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Some college with courses in a health or science-related field preferred
- Training in computer, basic office equipment, and medical terminology preferred
- Preferred current Phlebotomy certification from an approved agency
- Must complete de-escalation training within 90 days of employment
- One year Phlebotomy experience preferred

Physical Demands
- Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk without undue fatigue
- Potential exposure to communicable disease or radiation

- Superior communication and speaking/enunciation skills
