Phlebotomist
About the role
Pride Health is hiring a Phlebotomist to support our client’s medical facility in Burlington, MA 01803. This is a 3+ month contract assignment (Possibility of conversion or extension) and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages, including neonates.
- Collect high-quality blood specimens while following established safety and infection control protocols.
- Release laboratory orders accurately using the Epic electronic medical record system.
- Distribute specimen collection kits and provide clear instructions for patient self-collection procedures.
- Perform point-of-care testing, including fingerstick INR testing and other approved POCT procedures.
- Centrifuge, process, label, and prepare specimens for transport to the central laboratory.
- Verify patient identification and ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining patient comfort, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Comply with all organizational policies, regulatory standards, and quality assurance requirements.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience is required.
- Neonatal phlebotomy experience is required.
- Experience using Epic electronic medical records is required.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling, and laboratory safety procedures is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team is required.
