Responsibilities
- Collects blood and urine specimens using knowledge of laboratory techniques.
- Ensures correct patient identification and appropriate labeling of specimens.
- Performs EKG tests.
- Performs nasal swabs for COVID and influenza.
- Performs quality controls on new and stock supplies per manufacturer.
- Possesses outstanding professional and positive customer service skills, able to put patient at ease and appropriately explain procedures.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
- Knowledgeable of and performs safe infection control practices including good hand hygiene, standard precautions, cleaning equipment and the environment.
- Experience with healthcare computer information systems.
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional, work independently and within a team.
- Demonstrates forward-thinking approach, continually looking for ways to improve processes, tools, and resources to best serve the healthcare team and clients.
- Ability to manage challenging situations in providing services to patients and families.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year phlebotomy experience and/or graduation from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program required.
Pay
Compensation range: $18–$26 per hour.
