Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Phlebotomist, you will competently collect blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing, ensuring comfort and safety. Every day you will identify patients, explain procedures, proficiently perform venipunctures, and accurately label/prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to safety protocols.
To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills for accurate diagnostics and patient satisfaction.
- Practices positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
- P Practices HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions.
- Establishes and maintains good communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
- Complies with isolation and hand sanitization procedures.
- Follows blood collection procedures, performs venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Utilizes appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adheres to appropriate volume requirements.
- Performs Blood Bank collections.
- Follows written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures.
- Demonstrates accuracy and good penmanship.
- Adheres to specimen requirements.
Job Requirements
- Required High School Graduate, upon hire or High School GED, upon hire and BLS-CPR, within 90 days of hire
- Excellent customer service and time management skills, upon hire
- Preferred 3 months phlebotomy in an acute care facility and Phlebotomy Technician AMT (PHLEB-AMT), upon hire or Phlebotomy Technician ASCP (PHLEB-ASCP), upon hire or Phlebotomy Technician IAPS (PHLEB-IAPS), upon hire or Phlebotomy Technician NHCA (PHLEB-NHCA), upon hire
