About the Role

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting providers and patients by performing administrative and clinical tasks. The MA ensures efficient patient flow, accurate medical documentation, and a high standard of patient care in a welcoming, modern environment.

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Take and record vital signs, patient history, height, weight, and other information as required.
  • Administer injections, medications, and immunizations as directed by the provider.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (e.g., blood, urine) for testing.
  • Perform EKGs, wound care, and other basic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Ensure patient comfort and answer routine questions.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary exam rooms and medical equipment.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage check-in/check-out process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify insurance eligibility as needed.
  • Answer phone calls and relay messages to the clinical team.
  • Follow up on test results and patient referrals.
  • Manage inventory and order medical supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented approach.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish a plus.
  • 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.

Schedule

Practice Hours: Monday to Thursday. Occasional weekends as needed based on business needs.
