About the role

This role is responsible for executing the plasmapheresis process by performing venipunctures while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations to maintain high production standards and facility compliance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP).
• Deliver high-quality customer service, maintain a positive donor experience, and uphold donor confidentiality in alignment with company values and SOPs.
• Review and confirm donor identification, monitor donor conditions, and employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
• Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis; execute procedures and collection, maintain proper collection ratios, and accurately label units and samples.
• Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, troubleshoot alarms/alerts, manage adverse donor events, perform QCs, and document exceptions.
• Disconnect donors and handle the disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment, including cleaning spills and following safety protocols.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and remove and/or replace equipment from service, if needed.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of necessary records, including Plasmapheresis Machine Logs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, stock adequate supplies, and perform inventory tasks such as First In, First Out.
• Report all unsafe situations and conditions to management.
• Mentor and train team members as a Designated Trainer, driving training efficiencies; support QA-Backup or NexSys Technician duties as required.
• Partner with Quality Assurance on overall donor floor performance, including favorable performance observations, CAPA implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee the flow of donors, organize lunch schedules, breaks, and ensure overall schedule adherence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) months’ experience in a medical or health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties, prior to performing duties independently.
• Any specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
• Ability to use all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
• Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods.
• Ability to work in an environment with a temperature of -40°C or colder for extended periods.
• Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.
• Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
• Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle (if applicable).
