Philippe Bedard Received 2025 TAT Honorary Award for Contributions to Cancer Research
The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) recently announced that Philippe Bedard has received the 2025 TAT Honorary Award.
Philippe Bedard is a Medical Oncologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, with over 15 years of experience in the field of oncology. He has been a part of the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada, since 2010, working at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the world’s leading cancer treatment facilities.
Specializations and Expertise
- Focused on breast cancer, specializing in clinical trials and developing advanced treatment strategies.
- Aims to improve care and outcomes for breast cancer patients.
- Contributed significantly to research in breast cancer therapies.
Education and Training
- Earned MD from the University of Toronto in 2003.
- Completed specialized training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, obtaining FRCPC between 2003 and 2008.
- Worked as a Clinical Research Fellow with the Breast International Group from 2008 to 2009.
- Underwent further fellowship training in clinical and translational research at the Breast International Group (BIG).
- In 2012, the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) honored him with a Career Development Award.

Award Lecture
He will deliver his award lecture 'Bridging cancer genomics and drug development: An academic perspective' on 3 March 2025, at the ESMOTAT25 in Paris.
